IDS10 Highlights

I attended the Interior Design Show this weekend as a first time attendee and I really enjoyed the experience. I saw amazing creations from some of Canada's most talented designers. The highlight of the show for Steve and I was the Studio North area which presented 35 unique Canadian studios and designers. Here are our top 5 picks from Studio North at this years IDS10:

Rob Southcott is a furniture, product and interior designer. This table that we saw at the show along with the hand made tile piece in the background were incredible!

Smash is a Toronto-based store/gallery that focuses on salvaging industrial and architectural bits and turning them into one of a kind pieces . They also specialize in contemporary art and design.

City and North Custom Design is based in Southern Ontario by carpenter/furniture maker Brad Farinacci. Brad uses recycled materials such as reclaimed wood, recycled steel, leftover ceramic tiles, reclaimed floor boards and recycled copper.

Gregor Herman creates gorgeous art pieces with blown glass. His hand blown glass chandelier balls at the show were absolutely stunning.

Coup Design Studio specializes in unique furniture design. Their molded plywood multi-functional shelving system at the show was innovative and reminded me of skate decks (which I know well since a couple sets of skate decks came with Steve when we moved in together and are currently hung as art in our loft).

Coming up tomorrow are the top 10 design trends for 2010 from House & Home editor Suzanne Dimma's seminar at the IDS10.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Mine was filled with a never ending list of errands, but somehow it all got done. :)
